Don’t Forget Home Office Deductions During COVID-19
For those of you (or someone you know) who are self-employed and normally work in an office or other location away from home, don’t forget about home office deductions. If you have been required to work from home for some time due to COVID019, you can use the home office deduction for that time on your 2020 income tax return.
As long as you used part of your home regularly and exclusively for business, you can take a deduction for the months you worked there; it was your principal place of business.

Coronavirus COVID-19 Update
We are experiencing the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic that is impacting people and businesses worldwide. The virus started in China, spread across the world and is now hitting the U.S.
According to the CDC data, nearly 40 percent of U.S. patients sick enough to be hospitalized were age 20 to 54, with over 10,600 infected. But the risk of dying was significantly higher in older people.
Stay informed of the latest news on the COVID-19 outbreak, available on the World Health Organization (WHO) website and through your national and local public health authority. According to WHO, most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe for others.
Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Maintain social distancing
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
- Practice respiratory hygiene – cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the used tissue immediately.
- Stay at home if you begin to feel unwell, even with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, until you recover
- If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.

GCBCC to Exhibit During Atlanta Small Business Expo
ATLANTA – November 12, 2019 – Gwinnett County Black Chamber of Commerce (GCBCC) is proud to announce their exhibiting during Atlanta Small Business Expo Thursday, November 14, 2019. GCBCC will be located at Exhibitor Booth 431.
GCBCC will provide information on the organization to businesses attending the Small Business Expo. Registrants stopping by the GCBCC booth will have a chance to spin a wheel for prizes and learn all about GCBCC.
Small Business Expo will return to Atlanta for the 5th year in a row to bring together local small business owners and entrepreneurs to network with 100+ exhibitors as well as attend over 20+ free workshops led by business experts.
According to the Georgia Department of Labor in 2016, over 300,000 business establishments represented Georgia employment with 99.8% categorized as a small business. GCBCC is excited to team-up with Small Business Expo to assist Black-owned businesses in developing and executing strategies to establish and maintain successful entities in Gwinnett County.
ATLANTA SMALL BUSINESS EXPO will take place at the Cobb Galleria Centre | Hall A – 2 Galleria Parkway SE, Atlanta, GA 30339 from 10:00am until 5:30 pm.
